ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Easter Bunny has been sent packing at St. Paul City Hall.
A toy rabbit, pastel-colored eggs and a sign with the words "Happy Easter" were removed from the lobby of the City Council offices, because of concerns they might offend non-Christians. A council secretary had put up the decorations. They were not bought with city money. St. Paul's human rights director, Tyrone Terrill, asked that the decorations be removed, saying they could be offensive to non-Christians. But City Council member Dave Thune says removing the decorations went too far, and he wonders why they can't celebrate spring with "bunnies and fake grass."
i feel like anyone regardless of their religion can celebrate the easter bunny and eggs side of easter (just like they can celebrate the trees and presents side of christmas if they feel like it). as far as i know, the easter bunny has absolutely NOTHING to do with the christian easter holiday aside from the fact that he has the word "easter" in his title and the holidays fall on the same day. :P he does not go to church, he does not bring children little bibles and crucifix necklaces, and he just hides eggs and brings candy. if they had displayed a big jesus-on-cross statue on city hall property then yes, i'd be angry and all for taking it down because that IS legitimately offensive to non-christians. but a fucking rabbit??? if anyone is offended by a toy bunny and some eggs then there is something wrong with them. :P to me, rabbits-and-eggs easter is a secular holiday like halloween (which actually has some spiritual roots of some sort i believe doesnt it?) and trees-and-presents christmas is also secular. there is nothing inherently christian or unchristian about a bunny and a basket of candy or a tree with ornaments on it. if hanukkah (not good at spelling that, and i know it sometimes has a "c" but i didnt feel like using it) wanted to start some nonreligious traditions i'd be all for adopting them and displaying them everywhere... more holidays equals more funness. but as far as i know most of their traditions are specifically related to the religious practices and there is nothing totally random that also occurs like bringing a pine tree inside for no good reason. :P if i am wrong on this someone who knows more about jewish or other holidays please let me know and i will totally get behind making those secular traditions more commonly known and celebrated. :P hehehe. ok now i feel better.
but not about my loans. sallie mae is evil. earlier this month, i change all my bank account info to reflect the closing of my personal account and my switching over entirely to our shared account. on march 12, i get a confirmation email sayign that the bank info change request had been received and would go into effect the next calendar day. my bill is supposed to be auto-debited every month on the 19th or closest business day. today i get an email from them saying that my account they withdrew from was closed so the payment was never received and is "late." i got a fucking late fee (a small one, but still) and now that screws up my thing where if i am not late on payments for so many months (i think it was 2-3 years total) then i get a reduction in my interest rate. i need to call them and complain. i am just busy at work and really angry with them right now so i dont want to do it and deal with trying to talk to someone who is probably in india and explain my problem to them. grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

so now the easter bunny is a christian??? :P (and some venting about sallie mae)
wow. people are absolutely ridicuouls with this pc bullshit. i am all for separation of church and state, and yes, easter (in the sense of jesus and ressurection and all that) is most definitely a christian holiday. but this is just stupid:
